St. Benedict School follows a challenging curriculum as set forth by New York State and as prescribed by the Essentials of Learning of the Archdiocese of New York. All students are required to master subject areas which include: Religion, Mathematics, English, Composition, Grammar, Reading, Science and Social Studies.
In addition to the Core Curriculum, students also participate in weekly classes of Physical Education, Computer, Music, Art and Library.
St. Benedict School focuses on evolving to the new trends in the 21st century by providing yearly subscriptions to all students for Mathletics, an online Mathematics program aligned with New York State standards, to build on the skills from classroom instruction and help prepare students for the upcoming school year over the summer.
We also have implemented Google Classroom into our middle school to allow students to collaborate, create, and analyze assignments throughout the various courses.
St. Benedict also offers a quality after-school program, a successful sports program, and a variety of afterschool clubs that allows students to socialize and build on a variety of skills outside the hours of the school day.
All students participate in daily Religious lessons to help foster a love of the Catholic tradition. Students participate in scheduled Masses and Sacraments throughout the school year. First Friday Mass is celebrated with the school and parish community at 9:15am each month.
Students in 2nd Grade participate in the preparation for and receiving of the Sacraments of Penance and First Holy Communion. Students in grades 7 and 8 participate in the 2-year preparation program for the Sacrament of Confirmation. The reception of the Sacrament takes place during the spring of the 7th grade.
Students of St. Benedict School have numerous opportunities and are encouraged to participate in service activities, which include: the Parish Thanksgiving Food Drive, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Pink Lemonade Stand, Toys for Tots, tutoring, and service to the community.
